Slowly, but surely, we are moving to taking our Journeys tests online. This helps by making the grading process faster, plus it gives me a breakdown of the skills and topics each student is struggling in and excelling in to drive my instruction. It also helps prepare students for taking state assessments online, such as the PARCC test, which is completed electronically at HMS.
For now, we are still working with the paper/pencil tests, but students are taking their answers from the paper tests and entering in their answer selections online via the Journeys website. This is to prevent students from scoring low due to a new testing procedure. Eventually, they will be taking them online only to save paper and further prepare them for electronic assessments.

We have started reading Wonder in class. This book deals with bullying, acceptance, kindness, and differences people may have on the inside and out. It promotes great discussion about different issues people run into everyday. I encourage you to ask your child about our topics of discussions throughout the next several weeks!
